Threaded flanges, also sometimes referred to as companion flanges / screw flanges / NPT flanges, contain a female NPT thread in the center for connection to male NPT threaded piping. Threaded flanges are common when creating reducing connections. Other thread styles are available for machining, aside from the standard NPT form as designated by the ASME B16.5 specification.
A threaded flange is a device that connects a device that you can secure to a pipe length without the need for welding. With tapered thread, the threaded flange can be tightened onto the pipe without any leakage.
However, a seal weld is commonly used when it is appropriate. The nature of the threaded connection makes the threaded flange one of the viable options when welding is not feasible, like in explosives or highly flammable areas. The flange is commonly used only on small-diameter pipes.
Referance Standard and Grade:
ASTM A105: Standard forged carbon steel pipe components for environmental and high temperature / high pressure systems.
ASTM A182: The standard for alloy and stainless threaded flanges.
Common alloy grades: F5, F9, F11, F22, F91; Stainless steel grades: F304, 304/, F316, F316L.
Although threaded pipe flanges come in different sizes, threaded pipe fittings are mostly used for small-diameter pipes. (Normally less than 4 inches)
On the other hand, it is not compatible with thin-walled pipe systems because there is no room for threading.
Types:
1. One seals the two pipe ends with a certain sealing surface and a lens pad. This type is mostly used for ammonia production but has been used less recently, and the lens pad has been replaced by a metal ring.
2. The other is the same as a normal flange and is sealed with two flange sealing faces.

If threaded pipe flange can be measured accurately, following data shall be required:
O: Outside Diameter of flange
C: Thickness of flange
R: Diameter of raised face
X: Hub Diameter at base
Y: Length through hub
T: Minimum thread length
Q: Minimum diameter of bolt circle
